AMAZORA
Sunset on the Amazon
The story

Born from a river that would not let us leave.

AMAZORA began the way most good things begin — by accident. A small group of friends found themselves stranded in Alter do Chão after a storm, and spent seven days on a borrowed boat with a local pilot who knew every hidden beach by its first name.

By the end of the week, none of us were the same. The forest had asked us a question we are still trying to answer. We went home and could not stop talking about it.

We built AMAZORA so that other people could be asked the same question.

Today we run small-group immersions from a base in Alter do Chão, with local pilots, cooks and guides who are part of the rivers we travel. We work with the same families. We pay them well. We come back to the same beaches and treat them with the same care.

We are not interested in scale. Ten travelers per week is the maximum we will ever host. The Amazon is the most generous teacher we know — and good teachers cannot be rushed.

"We don't sell trips. We hold the door open."
